The Fruit of Death: Part 2

Read Romans 7:1-6

 

The resurrection represents so much more than salvation. Because we share in the resurrection of Christ, we are not just saved people, but new people. A new people unified with Christ and therefore untied with God…forever.  Since we are now in Christ our lives should and will bear the result of Christ’s righteousness in us – the fruit of the Spirit.

  1. What do you think he means when Paul explains we are no longer married to the law, but through death we belong to another?

 

  1. Verse 5 says that the law, or the rules, stir us to sin. The law is a good and holy thing, rules can be a good thing, so how can it arouse in us a need to sin? Has that every played out in your life?

 

  1. By sharing in the resurrection of Christ we have been set free from the law into something new. What does that mean and how does it play out in our lives?

 

  1. If we are truly new in Christ, the bible says we are now empowered to bear fruit for God. What does that mean (reference Galatians 5:22-23 for help)?

 

  1. How is God bearing fruit through your life and how would you like to bear more fruit from God?
