None Are Righteous?

Read Romans 3:9-20

So often we think of people as being inherently good. That we are all good people that sometimes do bad things. But is that what the Bible teaches? One thing that unites every single person on the planet is our unrighteousness, our sinfulness before God. The beautiful thing about the gospel is God is not trying to make us feel terrible by helping us see our depravity, He is showing us the truth so we might run to him and be set free.

  1. The passage says, no one is righteous, no one does good, yet many of us know people that don’t love God and have done good in this world. What is Paul really saying here?

  1. Romans says we are under sin. One way to see that is we ALL turn away from God (verse 12), but another very practical way it is made obvious is by our speech. How does our speech reveal that we are under sin? How can your life reflect this at times?

  1. We said that the talk about our sin and turning away from the God that began in Romans 1:18 and continues through 3:20 can be summed up in verse 18, “There is no fear of God before their eyes”. What does it mean to fear God and how does this statement sum up where we have been so far in Romans?

  1. Where does your life fail to reflect the fear of God, or where would you like your life to be more fully submitted to the rule and reign of your king?

  1. One of the reasons Paul has spent all this time talking about sin and our unrighteousness is to unite the church in Rome. How can this lead to unity, and how can it lead to us falling even more in love with God?
