Mission: God’s Vision for the Church

Read Hebrews 1:1-3 and Ephesians 1:12-14

At Freshwater we say we exist to glorify God and advance the gospel, but what does that really mean? It means worshipping, making much of, and spreading the fame of the one who is the perfect representation of that glory, Jesus Christ. God created us to display his glory, and our salvation, redemption and transformation into Christ’s image is God’s primary way of displaying that glory to the world.

  1. Hebrews said Jesus is the radiance of God’s glory. What do you think that means and how do we see that in Christ’s life?

  1. Isiah 43:7 says we were created for God’s glory. Ephesians 1 said that we who believe, who were saved, redeemed and sealed to God by the Holy Spirit are the praise of his glory.  What do you think it means that we were created for God’s glory? How does God saving us proclaim that glory?

  1. So the mission of the church and the mission of disciples of Christ is to glorify God. How do we do that in our everyday lives?

  1. Were do you think you are letting other things replace the glory of God in your life? How do you think you can center more of your life on living for the glory of God?
